Moorings Park Alan and Marilyn Korest Plaza
Moorings Park is a highly regarded and recognized place for senior citizens to enjoy the fruits of their retiring years. The main campus offered and endless amount of amenities for enjoying life to the fullest including a center for healthy living, a variety of residential accommodations, assisted living facility, club, a multitude of dining options, theatre, beautiful landscape and gardens, trails and walking paths, lakes and at the center of focus is a very architecturally stunning chapel.
The residents wanted a social gathering place for very special events thus the A&M Korest Plaza was born. The plaza is centrally located to the campus and serves as the open air courtyard narthex for the chapel. A dandelion fountain is featured in the center of the courtyard with diagonal paths leading to the dandelion from four quadrants. The garden has a white theme reflecting the beauty of the chapel and music is piped into the garden from the Bach organ of the chapel. Six Beautiful Tipu tamarind trees provide wonderful shade and create two perimeter side contemplative gardens each with a water feature inspired by the Bach organ. The garden is framed with rich Japanese yew hedges to give a sense of enclosure, meditation and protection. Crisp white landscape walls compliment the chapel and offer quotations of inspiration. The garden brings life through bringing the residents together in a very meaningful way. One enjoys the garden and leaves the garden refreshed.
